ABOUT ME

Picture
I was born Sarah Ann Rees at home in Chorlton-cum-Hardy which is a suburb of Manchester. I have lived in Chorlton most of my life and have only recently moved further into the heart of Manchester. I am the middle child and have two sisters who have helped provide me with many years of inspiration for my writing and poetry.

My Father is an artist and writer and having grown up around his work it felt only natural that I would follow in his footsteps, using paint, pen and paper to express and communicate with the world. At the moment I am just using paper in my animation series 3, this has already proved a great project as I have already won an entry into Waterside Arts Centre, this will continue to run until 8th May 2010.

I have been influenced by my Son and my family and I write about my childhood, personal experiences and the people around me. Like my Mum and Sisters I worked in the medical field as a nurse at Withington Hospital, this also provide me with a wealth of experiences that I try to incorporate into my work.

I have been writing poetry and painting for the last 12 years. My most recent project was a poetry book aimed at young adults. This is very different from what I am used to and isn't my usual style of writing - however it was an enjoyable experience and it is a pleasure to now see it out on sale.

At the moment I have started on a new challenge and have started to write a children's novel along side a book for adults too. In my artwork I am pleased to say that I have two new exhibitions coming up and as soon as all the details have been confirmed I will post them on the site.

In the meantime let your imagination run wild - write, paint and draw - believe in yourself and your work. Those that succeed are the ones who keep going and take the challenges they face and turn them into wonderful art works or heart wrenching novels.
